Middle school TSA competes in 2024 National Competition

Middle school TSA members competed at the 2024 TSA National Competition in Orlando, Florida. TSA members from Wesleyan included Lillian Lu '30, Cate Hudak '30, Acoya Wu '29, Allen Chen '29, Tiffany Kim '29, Christian Chung '29, Colin Davis '29, Andrew Yang '29, Matthew Kane '29, Aiden Chang '28, Jesse Cottingham '28, and Jason Chung '28.
There were over 7,000 middle and high school students from 40 states and international teams from Germany and Korea. Over 100 teams competed in the competition. This was Korea’s first ever team started by Yuna Cho '28.

"Cho was a sixth
grade Wesleyan TSA member who was on my first Wesleyan Team that made it to Nationals in 2022," explains LaShandia Hill, middle school TSA/robotics advisor. "She left at the end of her sixth-grade year and moved to South Korea with her family. She remained in touch with me over the past two years, and I encouraged her to consider starting a TSA chapter at her school in South Korea. She did, and this was their first year at Nationals in Orlando."

Cho is returning to the States and will be attending Wesleyan this fall as an incoming freshman!

"She will be returning and joining our TSA program here, but she was able to leave a legacy by introducing TSA to that country," says Hill.

Tiffany Kim is Georgia’s TSA State 2nd Vice President and presided over the state delegation meetings and represented the state of Georgia at several sessions and meetings at Nationals.

Wesleyan had 3 events that finished in the top 10! They received National finalist’s pins:

4th place- Flight- Andrew Yang
9th place- Technical Design- Tiffany Kim, Allen Chen
9th place- Medical Technology- Tiffany Kim, Acoya Wu, Lillian Lu

This was also the second year in a row that LaShandia Hill was honored and received the Middle School Advisor of the Year Award for the state of Georgia.

Well done, TSA members!
