Students, faculty, and parents celebrate all the Lord has done at All School Chapel

On Thursday, May 9, students, faculty, parents, and friends attended the last All School Chapel of the school year to learn about the Christian life theme for the month of May: celebration.
“It’s no accident that our theme is celebration,” smiles Chris Cleveland, head of school. “There are multiple places in Scripture that demonstrate the importance of setting aside time to celebrate all God has done.”

In addition to reciting Scripture, worshipping together, and praying together, each principal shared a brief reflection during chapel.

Joseph Antonio, middle school principal, spoke about Psalm 118:24, which says “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

The verse reminds us to consider the Lord, the present day, and the call to celebrate the gift of life.
“I recite this verse every morning,” explains Antonio. “Our response is to rejoice – to have joy over and over again.”

Dr. Jason Erb, lower school principal, reminded us that God celebrates most when we turn to Him in faith and receive Jesus, the greatest gift of all time.

“God has our best interest in mind, and He can truly bless us when we turn to Him,” says Erb.

Joseph Koch, high school principal, explained that the Gospel gives us hope. Even during trials, we can celebrate and respond with gratitude because of what Jesus has done for us.

To conclude the service, Greg Lisson, director of Christian life, explained that celebration is central to the spiritual disciplines.

“Disciplines come alive with they are motivated by joy and building towards celebration,” explains Lisson. “Christians ought to be people who celebrate because we have much to celebrate, and celebration is good for us.”

Thank you, students, faculty, and parents for joining us for All School Chapel!
