Second grade students attend Camp Learned-A-Lot

On Wednesday, May 15, second grade students took parents and faculty on an adventure to Camp Learned-A-Lot in Bowen Cafetorium.
At this beloved camp, campers learn about God’s love and the importance of peace and kindness.

One group of campers demonstrated the ability to carry out peace when other campers acted unkindly by stealing the marshmallows they intended to use for s’mores! They fought the natural inclination to rush to get their marshmallows back and instead chose to respond peacefully with the hope that their response would rub off on the other campers.

Another group of campers learned about kindness when arguing over who would get to be quarterback for their football game. A counselor reminded the campers of the Biblical call to yield to others and consider their needs and desires more important than their own.

Another noteworthy part of the camp was a talent show where students learned to use their God-given gifts to make audience members laugh and smile.

Thank you to our second grade campers and performers for teaching us about the beauty of peace and kindness!
