On Friday, May 10 and Monday, May 13, middle school students celebrated the completion of the inaugural year of the house system and recognized the Amatz house as the first-ever winners of the house cup. Friday’s celebration honored the dedication and hard work of all houses, and during the celebration, Amatz was announced as the house cup champion.
Over the past few weeks, first grade students have been learning about sea turtles and the importance of leaving nests alone if they see them on the beach this summer.
Pre-first students are leading the way on celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month by studying countries like Thailand and India and creating a display to teach the rest of the lower school about AAPI countries. On Monday, May 13, Seth Sancheti ‘32 and Cammie Sancheti, parent of Seth and Shaan ‘27, led a presentation to Mrs. Jensen’s pre-first class about their trip to India where they learned more about Seth’s father’s heritage.
On Thursday, May 9, students, faculty, parents, and friends attended the last All School Chapel of the school year to learn about the Christian life theme for the month of May: celebration.

On Thursday, May 2, high school students, faculty, and parents gathered for Senior Honors Day. This special tradition celebrates the hard work and accomplishments of the senior class. During the ceremony, Deborah Catrini of the United States Naval Academy delivered a presentation of academy appointment to honor Mamie Pridgen’s commitment to the U.S. Naval Academy. The Class of 2024 award recipients are listed below.
During the month of April, the Wesleyan varsity and junior varsity math teams, led by high school math teachers Deborah Brown and Nicole Scalf, competed in state competitions held in Macon, Georgia.
On Thursday, April 25, Pastor Hung Truong spoke about the importance and meaning of good stewardship at middle and high school chapels. Truong is the son of Vietnamese refugees and has been pastoring for the past 25 years. In January 2020, his family planted a multi-racial church in Norcross called Grace Emmanuel.
On Wednesday, April 17, Wesleyan’s inaugural competitive chess team finished as the state runner’s up after competing against 48 individuals in an all-day tournament at Strong Rock Christian School.
On Friday, April 19, middle school students competed in various competitions at field day to earn points for their houses: Zedak, Amatz, Katov, and Hokmah.
The College Advising office is pleased to announce that senior Mamie Pridgen received an appointment as a midshipman for the United States Naval Academy Class of 2028. Pridgen received nominations from Congresswoman Lucy McBath and Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock.
